Material Planner/Scheduler


Details: American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. is a world leader with more than 80 years of combined experience in the design, engineering and manufacturing of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles, commercial vehicles, and passenger cars.In this fast-paced, dynamic environment, you will be responsible for assuring the supply of material from our suppliers and to our customers while achieving budgeted inventory turns levels.These core responsibilities are typically accomplished by performing the following duties:•Proactive engagement in the identification and resolution of material continuity gaps.•Fosters a positive attitude towards company and personal goals.•Embraces a continuous improvement approach with high levels of integrity and performance for his/herself and others (co-workers, suppliers, customers, etc.)•Ability to drive and enforce accountability within the supply chain.•Monitor production schedules to establish operational sequence and lead time requirements needed to meet shipping dates driven by customer requirements.•Works with department supervisors to determine status of production plan, supplier performance, build schedules and other assigned projects.•Expedites operations and material which may delay production schedules or create necessary schedule modifications in order to avoid customer shipment delays and/or production downtime.•Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records used in managing material inventory, in-process production, and status and location of material.•Evaluates the effectiveness of existing information used for production planning and process systems. Effectively manages inventory levels in accordance with company objectives and supports both production requirements and customer demand.•Supports the resolution of inventory issues as needed.•Promotes and engages in principles of employee involvement, team building and continuous improvement.•Uses MRP system (Oracle) and PC based software for tracking and generation of reports.•Analyzes a variety of data to generate actionable conclusions that are executed.•Helps develop, implement, and support long range department goals that successfully meet and exceed company goals and objectives.•Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal / external suppliers and customers.•Adheres to Corporate policies and procedures•Other duties may be assigned.Required Qualifications:1.Minimum of a four-year College degree or equivalent training in a related field.2.High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.3.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools, particularly in Excel. .4.Good oral and written communication skills.5.High level of planning and organizational abilities involving multiple tasks.6.Some knowledge of MRP systems, inventory management, forecasting, and pull systems.7.Strong level of mathematical and analytical abilities.8.Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and multiple tasks.9.Detail oriented.Preferred Qualifications:1.APICS or ISM Certification.2.Minimum of a four-year College degree or equivalent training in Supply Chain Management.3.Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing, Program Management, Purchasing, Logistics, or Product Launch.4.Ability to work flexible work schedule including some overtime during the week and weekends.AAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer
